An online checking/savings account that is completely free, with no monthly fee attached is through ING Direct, called the Orange Savings Account. This is a paperless checking account with no checks or a checkbook. You can do everything you are used to -- deposit your paycheck, pay bills, send a paper or electronic check, transfer money -- securely online. There is a fee if you send paper checks, drop your overdraft line of credit balance below zero, or require a stop payment.



ING is looking to add new customers. Because they use no paper and have no branches, costs are low. This is a great option if you are online throughout the day.
You sign up using an existing checking account. They claim that their percent APY for savings is almost seven-times (that's 7x) than the national bank savings average.
